Dahlstrom Mustang Choir

We have a few upcoming performances that are on odd days. The Kyle Tree Lighting is on Wednesday December 3rd, Budafest is on Saturday, December 6th and Bel Canto has a performance at the Park at Beckett Meadows on Saturday, December 13th.

It is understandable that some students will have a schedule conflict on some of these dates. Students should make their best efforts to attend all choir events. If one of the preceding events MUST be missed due to a previously scheduled conflict please remember:

-Only truly legitimate reasons are excusable (ie. other school-related activity, important church meeting, competition, etc.)
-If a student is going to miss one of those events, written notification MUST be brought in at least one week before the event.
-Lack of transportation, lack of uniform or “I didn’t feel like coming” are not excuses.

Please note that attendance at the Holiday Concert on Monday December 8th is non-negotiable except in EXTREME circumstances such as severe personal illness or a death in the family. The Holiday Concert and the after school rehearsal on December 2nd will comprise 60% of the Third Six-Weeks grade. Attendance to these two events is MANDATORY!!!

You may have noticed a drop in your choir student’s grade from the first six-weeks to the second. This is likely due to our new “Participation Grade” Rubric. Students now grade their own choir participation.

Every Friday, your student fills out a self-evaluation form. The score is added and doubled and results in your student’s participation grade for the week. If the students are honest and fair, their grade is not changed. However, if a student is too easy or too hard on themselves, the grade is adjusted accordingly. 

The participation grade form can be viewed in the “Printable Documents” section of the website. Please email or call if you have any questions.

We have tons of performances and fun events coming up. Make sure to check the calendar for updates and changes that may have occurred since you last visited. For any questions, please send an email to Mrs. Bills. 

Our first concert of the 2008-2009 is TOMORROW NIGHT! October 15th, 6:00pm at the Hays PAC. Students need to arrive at 5:30 for warm up. 

Concert uniform is jeans, choir shirt and any closed-toe shoe.

Choir shirts are in!!! They will be distributed in class tomorrow to people who have paid for them.

Extra shirts are available for sale. $10 each.

We have lots of kiddos involved in athletics! This is wonderful, but as one can imagine, scheduling conflicts are bound to happen. Due to a conflict with football and cheerleading on 10/14, our Fall Concert has to be moved to another date.

The new Date is:

Wednesday, October 15th, 6:00pm – Students arrive at 5:30pm for warm up.

I apologize for the change, and by moving the concert up 30 minutes, I hope to eliminate any conflicts with church organizations that evening. If you have individual concerns with the date or time, be sure to contact me ASAP. Email is usually the best way to reach me, but I can also answer messages from my phone at work.

Be sure to stop by the website for more information about upcoming events. There will be some after school practice prior to the concert. You will know when those practices are by next week. All after school practice sessions end in time for the late bus. Students in athletics can usually work out a compromise for after school practice.

Calendar- an interactive and navigitable calendar with choir events posted for the whole year! Events may be added or subtracted as needed.

FAQ- Frequently asked questions. Hopefully this page will help address common concerns for students and parents.

Handbook- If you read one page on this site, make sure it’s this one! The handbook will likely answer any question you may have about choir.

Links- It’s not really a page. More like a box. Take some time to click on the links and explore. If you have a link you would like to submit, please send it along.

The more we use this website, the less we will have to rely on paper products. It’s our little way of trying to “go green”.  Plus it’s pretty hard for students to lose a URL. At least we hope so…
